Miriam and Anthony’s traditional Egyptian wedding in Pennsylvania is one of my favorite weddings I’ve had the honor to capture! It was a day filled with love, family, faith, and a strong sense of culture, and it was absolutely beautiful through and through!

Their Love Story

Miriam and Anthony’s love story began at the University of Pittsburgh, where they met during their undergrad programs. They were friends for a while before developing feelings for each other. They went on their first date together and have been together ever since!

Today, they share an unbreakable bond, their strong friendship at the heart of their relationship, beautifully intertwined with their shared faith.

A Celebration of Culture and Love

Anthony and Miriam are some of the kindest people I’ve ever worked with. They welcomed me with open arms and shared their culture with me! Although I didn’t know much about their traditions and culture before we met, they trusted me wholeheartedly and provided numerous resources to educate me prior to their big day, which I’m SO grateful for!

This is also a note for any future clients – I love learning about you and your culture and will happily do so, in order to give you THE BEST experience on your wedding day!

The couple’s wedding was a grand event. They had a beautiful, Coptic Egyptian wedding ceremony at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Norristown, PA. They were crowned, draped with vestments, and anointed with holy oil on the forehead for spiritual protection.

The day was filled with joyous singing and Egyptian music that was simply irresistible to dance to!

The stunning, historical Valley Forge National Park provided beautiful backdrops for the couple’s outdoor wedding photos. It’s such a beautiful park surrounded by rolling hills, lush forests, and vast meadows!

A Traditional Egyptian Wedding Day

Then the wedding reception brought us to Pen Ryn Estate.

One of the most fun aspects of their wedding was the dance floor buzzing with guests showing off their best moves. I was taught some dance steps, and the wedding party introduced me to the “Zaghrouta” (زغروتة), a high-pitched vocal cheer symbolizing trills of joy and celebration!

Despite the day running a tad behind schedule, Miriam and Anthony were incredibly calm, taking everything in stride. Their joy was infectious; they wore radiant smiles throughout the day, spreading happiness among all the guests.

Surprises, Sparklers, and Sentimental Moments

Anthony’s sister gave a beautiful speech during the reception and included a lot of details on how Anthony and Miriam’s love story started. From the way he thought Miriam was ghosting her, but she didn’t actually receive his messages because Anthony has an android, to their first date where he laid all his feelings out on the table.

Anthony had a sweet surprise up his sleeve for Miriam—a heartfelt performance of “My Girl” by the Temptations, accompanied by his siblings and cousins.

This was followed by another surprise when the entire wedding party broke into a meticulously planned flash mob. It was the sweetest thing!!

And after a night filled with surprises, beautiful speeches, and dancing, the couple made a grand exit with a fun sparkler send-off!
